The Review:

Lucifer Was started in Norway back in the early 1970's, were influenced by bands like Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Atomic Rooster and Black Widow, then after a few years of local gigging, they broke-up.

About twenty years passed and the band reunited in the mid-90's and released a few albums worth of new and re-recorded early originals. Their sound has a lot in common with the afore mentioned bands. Plus they also are in the same league as newer bands like Anekdoten, Black Bonzo, Beardfish, Bigelf to name a few.

'The Divine Tree' is the bands’ latest album that like taking a trip in the way-back machine looking at the past while looking forward. I firmly believe that the future of music is in the past. Not so much with cloning the old sounds, more like using the warmth and rawness that new bands seems to be lacking. Lucifer Was was/is an amazing sounding band that caters to both the hard rock and progressive rock genres that truly deserves more recognition in both those genres. Well worth a listen and you’ll be hooked from the first note!
