The Review:

The Ohio based progressive metal band Magnitude Nine, released Decoding The Soul recently. I have the opportunity to have received a promo from InsideOut Music. I wasn’t aware of their msuic before listening. While there’s nothing new they add to the music world they do have a familiarity to the likes of Queensrÿche and on the website it’s said that they sound like Symphony X and at times, Yngwie Malmsteen. I haven’t heard those latter comparisons.

Unlike other progressive metal bands, Magnitude Nine has no epics or complex time changes, just melodic, catchy metal with a slight progressive flavor. In closing, Decoding the Soul has some great quality music on it but nothing that will be called “classic” but most metal & hard rock fan will enjoy it.
