The Review:

Sage’s five-song EP entitled Lightning Strikes is a brilliant debut by this Chicago based progressive metal band. Fronted by female vocalist, Tracey who’s in good company with other females vocalists in the genre such. as Melissa Rodler (Leger de Main, Mythologic), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), and Amy Lee (Evanescence). Lightning Strikes is somewhat of a preview of things to come. The songs aren’t as complex but the musical arrangements make up for that. My gripe is the guitar sound seems to be rooted in the 80's power metal style, most notably from bands on the Metal Blade roster. That being said they do something quite different than most prog metal band on “Ever Unanswered” with a guest tabla player that reminds me of Azigza.

Look out for these guys and girl for they will be the talk of most prog metal circles to come..
