The Review:

TCP (Temporal Chaos Project) is a project mainly made up of three guys: Blake Tobias (keys, programming, bass), together with Jack Wright (guitars, drums) and Henry Tarrnecky (vocals, lyrics). There’s numerous guests helping the trio round off a rather unique sound, to my ears. TCP can easily be mentioned along side Echolyn and label mates, The Rebel Wheel due to their unique approach to progressive rock, mainly in the instrumental department. Vocally, Tarrnecky is one of the more unique in the genre, in which he reminds you of many singers yet sounding nothing like them. The rest of the band provides an amazing musical canvas to back him up.

In my opinion they combine all of the best characteristics that encompasses the progressive rock genre. The band stays clear of useless noodling which gives each song a welcome listen. This is one of the better debuts of 2009 that sadly doesn’t seem to be mentioned on various forums and discussion groups.

While not groundbreaking, they do give a fresh sound mainly due to the various influences, past and present such as Genesis and King Crimson to name a few. I’d strongly recommend fans of the aforementioned bands as well as modern (not indie) progressive rock to check TCP out online at either their MySpace page or their record label, 10T Record’s page.
